A philosopher herald stands beside a triple furnace. He wears a short tunic which bears the image of a double headed eagle with wings and talons spread out, on the body of which is a small shield with a cockerel or hen. The herald holds a sceptre in his right hand and at his left side is an ornamental sword with eagle headed handle.
