Project on paintings of Alchemical Laboratories

In 2001 I decided to make facsimilies of some of the paintings of alchemical laboratories which became an established genre from the mid 17th century through into the 18th. I made four facsimilies, two by David Teniers the Younger, part of a painting by Adrian van Ostade and a section of the amazing work by Joseph Wright of Derby. I had mananaged to obtain some excellent detailed images of around about twenty of this style of painting and was hoping to be able to gradually work through these. There was, however, a complete lack of interest in these paintings, indeed such complete indifference that I decided to abandon that project. I was hoping that these could have provided the basis for an exhibition. I still have the four paintings that I made that year.
