Malkuth Tarot Deck      2007      Japan                                                   Art Medium: Description: The Malkuth Tarot Deck, 2007, was issued as a promo with the Playstation 2 game 'Baroque'. It is a dungeon combat game in which the player has to find their way through the maze of tunnels by shooting up all the monsters they encounter. The artwork for the deck, which does not appear to have been derived from the game itself, is a wonderfully creative exploration of the conventional tarot imagery. The artist, sadly unrecognised in the documentation, consistently finds new ways of approaching the tarot. The Wheel of Fortune, for example, is a remarkable image.
