Black Goddess Dark child
Art Medium:
Special form of wood engraving.
Description:
Siegfried Otto Hüttengrund (1951- )developed his own graphic printing technique of wood engraving and after intensive work has found international recognition, winning a number of prizes for his work. He works on wood panels or laminated veneers of hardwood. The main tools he uses are gravers and a bracket with four needles. For the needles he used Büchel 60 sewing machine needles, the finest of their kind. In order to keep these needles as fine as possible, the artist ground them with a hard Arkansas oil stone - thus the needles longer keep sharp points. He prints using high-pressure, similar to wood engraving, woodcut and linocut prints. The inking is made with a hand roller and a variable high pressure press in order to avoid squeezing the plates. The images were later hand coloured. The deck includes an additional "female devil" card or Black Goddess, XV/I 'Die Schwarze Goettin', supposedly reflecting the dark side of female nature. The deck also includes a dark child 'Das Dunkle Kind' supposedly meant to point to the most deeply hidden matters in the shadows of human nature. Supplied with an extensive book in a card sleeve and includes a large poster.
