Anyone got a copy of the first one yet? It's the Physika et mystika, a critical edition and translation into English by Matteo Martelli, and the website said it was supposed to come out with the 4th volume of Ambix in December, but it didn't. Everyone seems too busy to answer my email, so I was wondering if anyone else has heard anything?

Hi Alexander -- I was told by Jenny that it will be sent with the first issue in 2014 because typesetting proved quite demanding (it includes texts in Syriac).

Ah ha, thanks for that; my enquiry was passed onto her, but I presume she has been busy.
Edited to add - not long to go before the 1st edition of this years journal!

Dear SHAC member,

I write to update you on the progress of our new, annual supplement, Sources of Alchemy and Chemistry. We are about to mail out the first volume, Matteo Martelli's critical edition and translation of the Four Books of Pseudo-Democritus, together with the February issue of Ambix. Although we originally aimed to include the supplement with the November 2013 issue, the huge size and complexity of the volume has resulted in a longer preparation time than originally planned. I apologise for the delay, and hope that you will find the volume well worth waiting for!

I got that too.
And YES, it's here today. My commiserations to those who have to wait longer.
And it's printed on good quality paper, sure to be needed due to the usefulness of such a work.

For those who had placed an advance order with the publisher - my copy just arrived yesterday, so this volume is now generally available to the public. (Though I purchased a membership anyway to avoid these issues in the future.)

The gem of the bunch, is, in my opinion, the dialogue of Synesius and Dioscorus. This commentary on the Democritean "recipes" gives an entirely esoteric interpretation, and a general warning against literal interpretations.
