The Word and the World: Biblical Exegesis and Early Modern Science (Hardcover)
by Kevin Killeen (Editor), Peter J. Forshaw (Editor)

This book explores the impact of biblical reading practices on scientific thought in the Sixteenth and Seventeenth centuries. It addresses the idea that the natural philosophers of the era forged their new sciences despite, rather than because of, the pervasive bible-centeredness of early modern thought. This collection presents a series of essays challenging this critical presumption and offering substantial evidence of the centrality of scriptural interpretation for early modern scientific thinkers.

If any of you would like a PDF of my chapter in The Word and the World, just drop me a line and I'll email you a copy. (It'll be the proof copy, so there may be a few typos).

Peter
