This looks interesting. Usually I find myself dismissing books, whose author merely reads a thesis into the work of some classic writer, and then marshalls this into neat arguements proving so and so was expressing alchemical ideas. Often such books lack any scholarly discipline and merely attack and raid the hapless writer's text for confirmation of the alchemical thesis. This present book, however, seems to have a more scholarly foundation, so I am sufficiently intrigued to buy a copy. |
