I just found this interesting illustrated catalogue of some of the items formerly in Water Pagel's library. Pagel is well known for his work on Paracelsus. http://www.rogergaskell.com/Gaskell41Pagel_I.pdf Many of these have interesting illustrations. |

Part II covers books printed after 1600 at http://www.rogergaskell.com/Gaskell42Pagel_II.pdf "Before his death in 1983, Walter Pagel selected from his large library the rarest, the most valuable, and the most significant books to leave to his son Bernard Pagel, FRS (1930–2007). These are the books offered in my two catalogues of the Pagel books. The rest of Walter Pagel’s library was sold at Sotheby’s in 1984 and his papers were given to the Wellcome Library" |

Many of the volumes sold at Sotheby's were purchased by the Ritman Library (Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica). The library's online catalogue lists some 75 works of that provenance. |
