Unlike the Newman book which deals with the early period of the atomic/corpuscular theory, this book by Mark Morrisson instead looks at the ways in which the occultism of the late 19th and early 20th centuries - the Theosophical Society, the Golden Dawn, the Alchemical Society and other such groups - were influenced by the emerging atomic theory of matter. As the cover blurb states "Modern Alchemy explores the revival of alchemy in the early twentieth century, revealing a remarkable interaction between occultists, Theosophists, and cutting-edge science on radioactivity."
