I have never been able to visit the John Rylands Library in Manchester, but I know that it has a number of important alchemical manuscripts, some with illustrations. So, during a phone call yesterday to their Department of Special Collections I discovered that they had put up a number of images onto an image system they use called LUNA. You have to download a javscript program called Insight, and then you can view some of their scanned images. It is a bit on the slow and hestitant side, but eventually if one searches for the word "alchemy" one is rewarded with some rather fine illustrations. Among these are a version of the Buch der heiligen Dreifaltigkeit, an illustration of the Lion devouring Sun and Moon, and one of the facsimile paintings of the Splendor solis made around 1847-1852 by an English artist C.W.
