Massimiliano Palombara Marquis of Pietraforte (1614 - 1680) was an Italian nobleman who developed an interest in alchemy. I am currently working with Gleb Butuzov on publishing a translation of an allegorical piece entitled La Bugia (the candle). I welcome any information on Palombara. He is best known today for the Porta Magica which still survives. There is an interesting video on this theme by Fausto Intilla http://oloscience.blogspot.com/2008/11/la-porta-magica-video-documentario.html |

Hi Adam, I assume you know Mino Gabriele's treatise on him: "Il giardino di Hermes: Massimiliano Palombara alchimista e rosacroce nella Roma del Seicento" (con la prima edizione del codice autografo della Bugia – 1656). Editrice Ianua, Rome 1986. |
