That reminds me - has anyone done a decent dismantling of Jung's views on alchemy? I've got Principe and Newman's essay in "Secrets of Nature", but would have thought someone else might have had a go somewhere else. |

If you can read Spanish, Guerrero has: http://www.revistaazogue.com/jung.htm I am hoping to translate this into English for Adam's paperback series but the author seems to be still working on an updated version. |

Do you think this is a continuing project, as the text talks about "over two hundred early printed books on alchemy", but this url only has 97. |

Yes, there's a 'latest additions' page so there's lots more to come I'm sure: http://www.e-rara.ch/alch/nav/history Last edited on Thu Jun 9th, 2011 09:45 pm by Paul Ferguson |

There is an interesting critique of Principe and Newman's perspective from a humanities point of view, in George-Florin Calian Alkimia Operativa and Alkimia Speculativa - Some Modern Controversies on the Historiography of Alchemy in ANNUAL OF MEDIEVAL STUDIES AT CEU. VOL. 16, 2010. http://www.archive.org/download/AlkimiaOperativaAndAlkimiaSpeculativa.SomeModernControversiesOnThe/FlorinGeorgeCalian-AlkimiaOperativaAndAlkimiaSpeculativa.SomeModernControversiesOnTheHistoriographyOfAlchemy.pdf Last edited on Wed Jun 22nd, 2011 03:25 pm by adammclean |

thank you for that - but perhaps this link works better?: http://www.archive.org/stream/AlkimiaOperativaAndAlkimiaSpeculativa.SomeModernControversiesOnThe/FlorinGeorgeCalian-AlkimiaOperativaAndAlkimiaSpeculativa.SomeModernControversiesOnTheHistoriographyOfAlchemy_djvu.txt The only other thing is it's probably in copyright, so I don't quite know whether archive.org should have it available. It appears to be available courtesy of the author here: http://ceu.academia.edu/FlorinGeorgeCalian/Papers/193940/Alkimia_Operativa_and_Alkimia_Speculativa._Some_Modern_Controversies_on_the_Historiography_of_Alchemy |

A reply from "Thank you for your interest in the alchemy collection. The digitization of these materials is being realized by the ETH-Bibliothek in cooperation with the Foundation of the Works of C.G.Jung. It is a work in progress, as the “new entries” on http://www.e-rara.ch/alch/nav/history show. An estimated total of 300 titles will be reached in Summer 2012" |
