A hermaphrodite or figure with two faces, stand with its right foot in a fire and its left foot in a pool of water. In its right hand it holds a chalice or cup in which are three serpents. Below this are the words 'Sperma metallorum' - the seed of metals. Hovering above this cup is a laurel wreath. In its left hand the hermaphrodite holds a serpent with three heads, above which hovers a lion wearing a band or ribbon of stars around its body.
