By Jean-Pascal Ruggiu.
"Many people, when they think of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, immediately think of "Magic" or "Magick." Others would be surprised to learn that the Golden Dawn is not, nor has it ever been a "Magical" Order. It is rather the Inner Order behind the Golden Dawn, the Ordo Rosae Rubeae et Aureae Crucis (R. R. et A. C.) which has been from the very beginning a depository of the Rosicrucian spiritual tradition. Furthermore, that which today has popularly become known as "Magic" or "Magick" is actually a development of that aspect of the Rosicrucian tradition known as "Theurgy." Prior to the founding of the Inner Order behind the Golden Dawn, Theurgy had never before been the primary focus of the Rosicrucian spiritual tradition, but rather Alchemy instead. Indeed, the Rosicrucian tradition itself grew out of the Alchemical tradition. The true place of Theurgy within the Rosicrucian tradition has always been as a complementary discipline to Alchemy."

Master's Thesis/Barrie Davis.
"The reunion of a man with God is the subject of a medieval text which aggregates excerpts from the Bible and Arabic alchemical texts that had recently become available in Europe. The Aurora Consurgens personifies God as Wisdom, a spiritual being who not only formed the world in the beginning but is also a guide to men to return to God subsequent to their separation at the Fall."

Thesis by Sarita Rich.
"While many of Shakespeare’s alchemical allusions are noted for their language of
positive regeneration and healing, the playwright’s departures from these conventional uses of
alchemy deserve further attention. This essay presents an examination of inversions in the
redemptive alchemical paradigm of Othello, a play whose connections to alchemy are not
announced by obvious references to gold making, the philosopher's stone, or other key terms
relating to the discourse of the opus that a modern audience is likely to recognize. I argue that in
Othello, alchemical allusions are more subtly deployed in the language that describes Othello
and Desdemona’s marriage, in the metaphorical speech of Othello’s self-doubt, in Desdemona’s
characterization, and in Iago’s references to medicine."
