"A Brief Account of Earlier Approaches to Coptic Alchemical Manuscripts A legend transmitted in the Kitab al-fihrist of Abu al-Faraj Muhammad ibn Ishaq al-Nadlm tells the story of the first translation of alchemical writings into Arabic, focusing on the figure of the Umayyad prince Khalid ibn Yazld ibn Mu'awiya, "who used to be called the hakim of the Marwan family.
