Alchemy and Sacred Geography in the Mediaeval Deccan
#1
"In the course of my research on the history of Rasasastra, I learned, in the early 1980's, from a colleague who had visited the temples of Alampur, that the iconography of this Saivite site as well as local traditions pointed to the former presence of alchemists in this region of the Deccan. In order to verify the grounds for this information, I proceeded with research that was as much philological and historical as it was archaeological and anthropological."
