1. Inserted before page i following the preface. Engraving. 131x73mm. A laboratory furnished with books, and an organ with seven planetary pipes, looks out upon a garden with a maze and a tree bearing apples. A monk sits at a chimney bearing the symbols of the four elements, holding a cloth to his face. A woman or goddess appears placing a crown over the head of the monk. He seems to be pushing her away. In her left hand she holds another crown, a sceptre, and a key. Beside the chimney is a small furnace upon which a flask is set. Within this flask are a king a queen, reminiscent of the 'Donum Dei' series, and three stems of a plant with rounded fruits protrude from the neck of the flask. This illustration has an explication on pages i-iv. "Sabine Stuart de Chevalier im. Hostoul del. Ja le Roy sculp."
2. p203. Engraving. 131x72mm. A young prince with crown stands upon the back of a three headed dragon which he has pierced with his sword. From this wound various snakes crawl away. A winged angel appears from out of a cloud and places a laurel wreath on the head of the prince. An explication follows on pages i-iv. "Sabine Stuart de Chevalier im. Hostoul del. Ja le Roy sculp."]
