[Illustrations:-
1. Frontispiece engraving. 164x120mm. A many-breasted Goddess with a small lion standing at each shoulder, has the lower part of her body fashioned as a sculptural column. This has three rings of images representing the mineral, the vegetable and the animal kingdoms. This is placed upon a furnace which a winged cupid is stoking. At the feet of the cupid are items of treasure, a crown, jewellery, daggers, swords etc. To the left is a distillation apparatus, while on the right is a crucible and other items of alchemical equipment. See items 2 and 4 from 'Fünff curiese chymische tractätlein...' 1757.
2. Inserted after p32. Engraving. 156x92mm. A triangle descends from the "Lux ignis Solis spiritualis", the heavenly flaming sphere, while another ascends from the Earth or domain of Pluto. This forms a "Pyramis Coelestis" and a "Pyramus Terrestris", and this image is obviously based on one of the pyramid engravings in Robert Fludd's works, for example 'Utriusque cosmi historia...' I p89.
3. Inserted after p258. Folding engraving. 163x165mm. Depiction of the interior of the globe of the Earth, showning various underground streams and volcanoes. Similar to item 15 "Schema globi terr=aqua=aerei" in J.J. Becher 'Tripus hermeticus fatidicus...' 1719.]
