Inserted at end of preliminary material. Engraving. 142x188mm. Neptune with his trident sits on the bank of a river in which a dolphin or sea-monster swims. On the right two men observe the heavens with a telescope. They seem to be examining the Sun which is depicted on the left as a sphere with various fires within it. Beside it are are number of planetary stars and Saturn with its rings. In the middle background a volcano erupts sending flames and smoke into the sky and various rocks spew forth. On a mountain on the left some people are working a windlass to extract ores from mines underground. In the middle distance Pan appears with a torch and blows on a trumpet chasing some griffins with a pair of dogs.]
