Description:
The Gridas ('group waking from sleep', with reference to the phrase of one of the engravings by Francisco Goya: "el sueño de la razon produce Monstros") was a cultural non-profit organization founded in 1981 by Felice Pignataro, Mirella La Magna, Franco Vicar, and others gathered together by the intention to put their artistic and cultural skills to the service of the common people to stimulate an awakening of conscience and active participation in political matters. This "Tarot of the G7" was made in 1994 on the occasion of the counter-G7 demonstrations in Naples. The cards are not numbered and some bear direct connection to tarot imagery. The drawings include satirical portraits of various politicians Clinton the saxophonist warmonger , Mitterrand the former socialist neo- colonialist , Helmut Kohl , the anti-Turkish German, John Major , the Conservative immersed in scandal.
