Art Medium:
Engravings or etchings coloured with watercolour.
Description:
The Major Arcana of the Tarot Porco were commissioned by Bigio L'Oster. Each card bears a caption at the bottom. These are taken from the book 'Il poeta è un fingitore' ("The poet is a pretender") of Ferdinando Pessoa. Enrico Prometti also produced his Arcani Maggiori in 1994. This was originally inspired by a musical piece 'Arcani del Porco' performed on October 31, 2002 , the night of All Saints, composed by jazz musicians Marco Gotti and John Fugazza , where each card is a piece of music. Each composition had its roots in the music of the Balkans , in European and American jazz , resulting in melodic twists , explosions harmonics , rhythmic solutions that reflect distant countries and allegorical visions. The combination of sounds and images was applied to a different tarot card, evocative of a real "Glasperlenspiel" (Glass Bead Game) as intended by Herman Hesse - a synthesis of concepts related to music.
