Description:
Andrea Picini (1935-2003) was a significant figure in late 20th century Italian art, so much so that a museum in Rome was established in 2009 dedicated to his work. He worked in various media, sculpture, painting and graphics. He was much influenced by esotericism and alchemy and also adopted strong political stances being a close friend of Bettino Craxi. Needless to say, Picini had nearly 100 exibitions of his work, the first being in 1955. His tarot sets the familiar figurative forms within abstract geometric structures. There were created in mixed media of painting and collage. His long term involvent in erotic art is explored in his tarot. In the Majors the titles of each card are woven into the artwork. In the Minors, keywords associated with the card are worked into the design.
