Tarot de Yumi
2002
Yumi
France
Art Medium:
Pen and watercoloured figures, digitally collaged onto various landscapes and backgrounds.
Description:
45 cards with only a distant resemblence to a standard tarot. 24 cards numbered I-XXIV comprise the Majors. Some of these obviously echo the established symbolism for the tarot major arcana, but others appear to have almost no link. Four suits of five cards each are named sky, ocean, fire, and earth. There is also a Yumi card, named after the deck creator. The imagery incorporates fashion model images, together with stylised masks. Cards I to XXII were issued as a promotional item 'Le Tarot Divinatoire Yumi' by Elle magazine.
