Description:
The Bestiarium Tarot was a deck and book set created by Miskolczi Noemi Martina as an entry in the 2005 Hungarian Design Award competition. Ms. Miskolczi was a student at the Hungarian University of Arts and Design and ended up winning the award in the student category. The creator wrote: The Tarot symbols appear on the cards as Creatures evoked by dream controlling and conscious dreaming. The hand-made leather-bound book is modelled on the Bestiaries of the Middle Ages. (A Bestiary is a book written in the Middle Ages containing descriptions of real and imaginary animals and creatures which was intended to teach morals and to entertain). It is a collection of imaginary creatures portraying the different stages of human life. Archaic and modern methods are combined in the technical realisation of the Book. The cards were prepared using two different techniques: polymer block of engraving (etching based on photo method) and manual relief printing process. The artwork was likely created by pen but made to look like old woodcuts. The cards were aged to look as if they were created many decades ago. Supplied with an A5 book.
