Wachifield      2005 Akiko Ikeda, Kagami Ryuji      Japan                                                   Art Medium: Description: The Wachifield Tarot is based on a manga character, a cat called Dayan, who lives in the imaginary world of Wachifield, created by author and illustrator Akiko Ikeda. There are apparently nearly forty books featuring Wachifield and its inhabitants, so eventually the publishers must have decided that the time was ripe for a Wachifield tarot. This series of immensely popular books seems to be totally unknown outisde Japan. On the Magician card, we see the mysterious Dayan and on the Lovers card, he is with his friend Marcy, who is a hare rather than a cat.
