USA
Art Medium:
Oil paintings.
Description:
This was originally issued as the 'Revised, New Art Tarot Cards' in 1929. In 1934 it was reprinted by the Philosophical Research Society as the 'Knapp-Hall Tarot'. John Augustus Knapp (1853-1938) had illustrated Manly Palmer Hall's (1901-1990) large volume 'An Encyclopedic Outline of Masonic, Hermetic, Qabbalistic and Rosicrucian Symbolical Philosophy', San Francisco, 1928. The later reprint shows clearly the coarse colour printing method used in the original printing. The Minors are not titled, but the Majors have their French names. The cards bear some small symbolic images, the significance of which which Hall did not wish to explain.
