Art Medium:
Pen and watercolour
Description:
Illustrations in a book. The original drawings are in The Sackner Archive of Concrete and Visual Poetry in Miami Beach. The images are composed of areas apparently of handwritten text, though as this is undecipherable, it is likely to be meaningless scribbles created to appear like text. Luciano Caruso (1944-2003) was a visual poet whose artist books integrated intricate handwritten words, often illegible but visual appealing with constructivist, abstract or semi-realistic images. Many of these books had pages that were stiffened with thick white paint. He staged many artist book exhibitions in Italy, edited a series of reprints of Italian Futurist publication and published and edited limited editions of visual poetry drawings, prints, booklets, and collages by himself and other poets.
