Does anyone know if there is a UK library that has these volumes from the Institut für Geschichte der Arabisch-Islamischen Wissenschaften? 11 volumes with some alchemical content.

I've tried ILL, but BL does not have them and wants around £60 per volume for an international ILL.

Hi Alan,

Have you tried the Wellcome?

http://catalogue.wellcome.ac.uk/search/a?searchtype=Y&searcharg=Institut+f%C3%BCr+Geschichte+der+Arabisch-Islamischen+Wissenschaften&SORT=D&searchscope=8&submit.x=16&submit.y=13&submit=Submit

or SOAS:

Hi Paul,

Yes, but not the ones I need.
The volumes are listed in http://www.alchemywebsite.com/a-archive_sep04.html

Oh dear, looks as if it would be cheaper to buy it than borrow it :(  All I can suggest is tracking down some of the original volumes individually. The BL certainly has some. Royal Asiatic Society perhaps?

Perhaps another library would offer a cheaper ILL solution? U of Glasgow perhaps, Adam?

Yes, I think that I will have to write to them & see if any are still available.

It was interesting, though, looking at some of the Wellcome records, to see that they were only issued in very small numbers (80 or 100).

I did write to the Institute and had a reply from the librarian, saying that they were all o/p. He has been most helpful though, in sending photocopies of the contents pages.
