From Rare Books Review:
On 9th December, the AuktionsverketAB Stockholms Auktionsverk will hold an auction incorporating some very interesting alchemical works, all of which are viewable in the online catalogue.
Other notable items include a Scandinavia map by Ptolemaeus from 1486, Liber Chronicarum by Schedel and some other incunabulas and interesting 16th century prints. Also on offer is a the first edition of Kant’s Critik der reinen Vernunft, two fine celestial maps by Cellarius, and a letter from Napoleon.
No. 6478, by the early Latin American (Peruvian) metallurgist Barba, is especially interesting. This German translation was by Johannes Lange I believe. Original Spanish edition for sale here:
When Barba book was published, his experience from when he was sent to Peru, it seemed to divulge a little too much about mining to the taste of the Spanish crown ... hence the listing on the (Spanish) Index.
The encroaching Inquisition/royalty went both ways.
