A few days ago I received the sad news of the death of Alan Pritchard, known to all serious students of alchemy for his comprehensive Bibliography of English Language writings on alchemy.
Alan was also one of the key members of our alchemy discussion forum.
He died peacefully at home on Saturday the 5th of September, from the consequences of a cancer he had suffered from for many years.
This news came upon me as a considerable shock as I had an email chat with him only a week ago. He had shared with me information about his illness over the last few years, so I was aware that his condition was terminal, however, in his emails to me recently he was quite upbeat, though totally aware of what he was facing. I came away with the impression that he would still be with us for some time, so I got such a shock on Monday when the news came through.
Sadly he has missed out on the publication, hopefully later this year, of an updated version of his renowned bibliography, which is on the bookshelves of all serious students of alchemy, and always well within reach. Here is a picture of my well worn and much thumbed through copy of his 1980 Bibliography.
In a few week time I will set up a permanent page on my website as an appreciation of Alan Pritchard and call upon colleagues to share their thoughts. Anyone who feels they would like to contribute a piece for this, please email me at adam@alchemywebsite.comAttached Image (viewed 356 times):
