The aim of this Seminar is to investigate the importance of Bruno's mnemonics as an essential aspect of his philosophy and in particular as a key element of his conception of the infinite and the human mind. During the first five sessions we will explore and contextualise different phases and themes of Bruno's mnemonic production also discussing the relationship with his more known philosophical works and some of his sources. The second half of the Seminar will be entirely dedicated to the discussion of the Sigillus Sigillorum. Main reference: De Umbris Idearum, Explicatio Triginta Sigillorum, Sigillus Sigillorum, Dialoghi Italiani, De imaginum compositione.
An English translation of the passages will be provided. The Seminar includes ten sessions of 1 hour, 30 minutes each, focussed on participation and discussion.
