I wonder if anyone can help with identifying some symbols used in the MPH manuscript books. I don't seem to be able to copy them, but they appear on page 215 of http://www.archive.org/details/manlypalmerhbox18v2hall. The page begins "Memorandum respecting the preparation..."

The two symbols are on the 3rd line. The first is 3 triangles that look like a mountain range; the 2nd is the Mercury symbol, with a line with a 'bump' on it.

I'm not very good at description, sorry.

Hi Alan,

The 2nd is certainly Mercury Sublimate. Concerning the 1st, I guess the mountains may actually be a crown and then it is Regulus of Antimony and Iron.

Here (with a bit of luck) is the page in question. The trick seems to be to go to 'thumbnail view', find the page (rather labour-intensive as there doesn't seem to be a 'Go to page' feature) and then right-click and save in the usual way.

Link works better without the fullstop :)

Thanks, Rafal.

Having identified those, I went back to Unicode Alchemical symbols and found the symbol for Mercury sublimate (1F710)and for Regulus of antimony (1F730) - although the latter is marginally different from that in the book. There are 2 different symbols for Regulus of antimony, and 4 for Regulus.

And thanks to Paul for getting the page up as an attachment.

Nearest I can find to the three triangles is two consecutive triangles indicating 'strong fire'.
