Magnum Opus Hermetic Sourceworks Series This series of limited edition hand-bound books by Adam McLean were initially produced between 1979 and 1986. They were never sold through book dealers, but only by direct mail order. Consequently, these books became collectors items, often fetching high prices on the second-hand market. Only a few copies remain of some of the older titles in this series and a number are now entirely sold out. Since 1997 thirty new titles have been issued with more in preparation. No. 45. Duchanteau - The Great Book of Nature Translated by Paul Ferguson Touzay Duchanteau was a late 18th century esotericist with a deep interest in alchemy. He was involved, together with Cagliostro, le Comte de Saint Germain, Mesmer, Etteila, among others, in the establishment of the reformed Masonic Order Philalethes in 1785. Sadly, he sacrificed his life undertaking a rather extreme alchemical experiment using his own body as the alchemical vessel. He left behind this work, which is a melange reflecting his various approaches to alchemy. Thus it contains a section on practical alchemy, another with an elaborate alchemical allegory, a dictionary of alchemical terms and a section supposedly translated from an arabic manuscript. Paul Ferguson's translation has now made this important work available to the English speaking world. Limited edition of 200 signed and numbered hardbound copies. A5. 110 pages.
